The next upscale smartphone from Xiaomi, Mi 7, has been widely mentioned as being powered by the Snapdragon 845 chip.
Today, Tuesday (5/12/2017), in the event Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit 2017 in Maui, Hawaii, United States, CEO Xiaomi Lei Jun confirmed the news.
"Mi 7 will definitely use Snapdragon 845," Lei Jun said in a question and answer session on the sidelines of the event. The Snapdragon 845 chip was also introduced on the same day.
One of the advantages of this chip is support for artificial intelligence technology (Artificial Intelligence / AI) which is claimed to be applied in many applications.
Jun mentioned that Xiaomi Mi 7 will also put forward AI technology as one of the mainstay features. However, he has not been willing to reveal what the implementation of the AI on mobile Xiaomi Mi 7.
"The AI Xiaomi team is working with Qualcomm to demonstrate this capability in the introduction of Mi 7 next year," said Jun.
"So far we have successfully developed AI with deep learning that uses large amounts of data."
Unfortunately, Jun did not want to reveal more about the specifications of the Mi 7, including about the possibility of sales in India or release date later.
